to maintain their independent living status.

What can the Council do for me?.

WheelchairWe can assist seniors people with disabilities, and their families to remain informed and aware of the latest resources available, providing up-to-date information. This can include government forms, tax problems, legal issues, housing information, Meals on Wheels, and many, many others. If we can’t answer your question, we will find someone who can!

2) Volunteer Services
We can arrange for volunteers to visit seniors or people with disabilities in their homes on a regular or casual basis, run errands, or do some grocery shopping. We also welcome volunteers to do vacation home checks, and to deliver food for Meals on Wheels.

3) Fee-for-Service
Home MaintenanceWe have a list of capable, trustworthy people who are willing to assist people with:
-minor repairs
-household cleaning
-yard work
-other assorted chores

How can I get involved?
CCSRC man and womanIf you a senior, a person with a disability, or a family member of someone who is, the Resource Coordinator will be happy to talk to you and get you set up with the service you would like to access. If you are not sure what you are looking for, or what we can offer give us a call and we may be able to help you find it!

If you are someone who would like to volunteer, we would like to thank you! Our program and clients rely on volunteer power. It is a great way to help people, update / learn a new skill, or get out and have some fun.

If you are a fee-for-service provider, we would be happy to add your information to our resource list, and then refer people to you that are in need of your service.

Either way, call the office or come on down for a visit!
We will have you setup in no time!

How does the Council run?
The Gilbert Plains & District Community Resource Council is a community based program designed to help seniors and people with disabilities in our community maintain their independence and remain in their own homes for as long as possible.

There is a volunteer Board of Directors that are from the community, and they are elected annually.
The Parkland Regional Health Authority provides funds to hire a Community Resource Coordinator. All other expenses must come though donations and fundraising events.

Volunteer Power
VolunteersThis is how the Resource Council can continue to deliver services. We are very proud of our volunteers and value their commitment.

There is nothing bigger than the heart of a volunteer!!
