Services to Seniors

Pinawa Age-Friendly SignServices are available throughout the Province of Manitoba. These community-based programs are designed to assist seniors who wish to maintain their independent living status in their own homes and those people whose independence has been compromised. All of the Services to Seniors programs are provided through the combined efforts of dedicated volunteers, feefor- service workers and the Services to Seniors staff. Each volunteer or fee-for-service worker has been reference-checked and the fees are regulated by the Two Rivers Seniors Resource Council Inc. All services and programs are provided with confidentiality, keeping the individuals’ needs in mind.

Lifeline Personal Response Service
When others can’t be with you or your loved one, Lifeline is… 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. A one time installation charge and a monthly maintenance fee provides help with just a push of a button. Go

Transportation/Driver Escort Service
Provides transportation to and from medical appointments as well as for personal errands. The volunteers give freely of their time. A fee is charged to cover the cost of gas and automobile repairs. Fees are based on a round trip and are determined by distance.


Friendly Phone Calls and Friendly Visiting
Provides those who are shut-in or lonely with companionship and support. Volunteers visit on a regular basis to share an activity or have a friendly chat.

Emergency Response Information Kits (E.R.I.K®)
Contains pertinent personal information in case a medical emergency arises. Go

Handy Helper Service
Handy Helper is designed to provide fee-for-service workers to assist with housecleaning and yard work.

Daily Telephone Check
A daily phone call at a pre-arranged time insures that all is well.

Meals on Wheels
A hot, nutritious lunch delivered to your door three times a week.

  • issues with the handivan

  • Informative Evening Event Well Attended... by Nancy Bremner Pinawa CDO, Volunteer And Resident Of Pinawa. On October 14th, 2009 "All Things Pinawa" Informational Evening took place in the Pinawa Community Centre. It was an evening with guests from many organizations and Information Pods for attendees to browse through. There was also an abundance of food and drink to encourage people to stay and chat. Summary of Survey Findings - Pinawa
As part of a community consultation held in Pinawa on November 10, 2008, individuals were asked to complete a brief questionnaire designed to collect information on the agefriendliness of their community. A total of 14 questionnaires were completed; all individuals identified Pinawa as their community of residence. This report summarizes the findings from the 14 individuals who completed the Age-Friendly Communities Survey; 36% identified themselves as a senior. Go
