What can the Downtown Seniors Resource Council do for You?

  • Help you make phone calls (government offices, agencies, services). Advocate on your behalf.

  • Offer Daily Hello program - someone to call you each day and make sure you are ok.

  • Help you with safety issues (we will come to you for a home visit, help you get the things you need to be safe)


  • Assist you with filling out forms.  Organize Income Tax Clinic in the spring where volunteers from Revenue Canada offer tax preparation at no charge to seniors living in the community


  • Provide you with information on how to access services such as; (homecare, rental assistance, legal affairs, health services, home maintenance.  If you have any questions or concerns about yourself or someone you care for please call our Council and we will direct you to the appropriate organization.


  • Facilitate a Safety Bingo for a group.  The Bingo is an educational tool that is interactive and fun at the same time.  The five areas of safety that it covers are: Home Safety, Fire Safety, Street Safety, Money Safety and Drug Safety. The Safety Bingo game can be ordered and purchased through the Downtown Seniors Resource Council at the cost of $40.00, plus shipping.


  • Give E.R.I.K. presentations to groups

E.R.I.K. (Emergency Response Information Kit)
E.R.I.K. has been developed by a community Advisory Council, established in response to community concerns regarding the availability of adequate information in emergency situations. All area emergency groups have endorsed this program. Once completed, the kit provides the necessary information for emergency personnel to respond quickly to your situation. Go
